Inoculation of 12-14 years begins in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha began administering Covid-19 vaccine to beneficiaries, aged between 12 and 14 years, on National Vaccination Day on Wednesday. As it was decided that only schoolchildren will be inoculated in the first phase, the health department had set up vaccination camps at 54 schools across the state.

Officials said there was no reluctance among beneficiaries in terms of taking the jab, rather they were eager to get inoculated. “We have got 15.47 lakh doses of Corbevax. It is enough to inoculate all 15.21 lakh beneficiaries with the first dose. The beneficiaries can take the second jab after 28 days of receiving the first dose,” said Bijay Panigrahi, director, Odisha Health and Family Welfare.
