Injury may rule Ryan Tubridy out of this weekend's Operation Transformation race

RTE star Ryan Tubridy has cast doubt over whether he will be able to run in this weekend’s Operation Transformation race.

The Late Late Show host injured his foot while training for the 5K run for the Operation Transformation marathon, which takes place in Phoenix Park, Dublin on Saturday.

But he threw doubt over whether or not he will make the run after he told fans on Tuesday he had hurt his foot.

Speaking in a video on Instagram, he said: "The prep for the 5K on Saturday in Phoenix Park with Operation Transformation continues but I've done some damage to my foot.

"It's sore. I'm not sure I am going to make this thing, but I've got an appointment to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully it will be okay. I just might get away with this. We'll see."

Updating fans, he said he’s still unsure if he will be able to run, admitting it’s "50/50".

The father-of-two explained: "Well the foot doctor says that there is an arch thing going on… boring detail. Probably might just be okay to do it if the next couple of days are alright. Does that make sense? It’s looking okay.

"I’d say it’s 50/50 at this stage for the run in the Phoenix Park for Operation Transformation. I was dying to do it. I’m still keen to do it so we’ll see how the next couple of days pans out."

Ryan previously revealed that Olympian Kellie Harrington was helping him get ready for the big day.

"I haven't run since I was about 11 or 12 and probably from somebody…it is a very alien concept but it has been good and I have practised several times," he said on his RTE Radio 1 show.

"I hope she doesn't mind me saying but my mate, as she is now, Kellie Harrington came out for the first one and we did a quick 5K which I never thought I would be able to do in my life.

"She just said, 'first of all slow the hell down.... wait, relax your shoulders, go slowly, steady as she goes, breathe in if you have a stitch'.

"I said, 'can we walk now? That was fun'.

"She said, 'no, no, no you don't walk now, you keep going. We didn't come all this way for you to start walking'."
