Surging cases of newborn syphilis, which can lead to miscarriage and stillbirth, have reached “dire levels”, according to US health officials.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says in a new report that case numbers have spiked more than tenfold in the last decade and nearly 32 per cent in the last year of data.
