Industry season four on BBC One review: Almost perfect, apart from the politics

Pierpoint may be gone, but Industry is back. The hit BBC series and well-known star vehicle returned for its fourth season on January 11, sans trading floor. By the end of season three, all key players had found their way out of the office building that once played host to 90 per cent of Industry’s action, unbinding the hands of creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay to play more freely with the world they had forged over the past 24 episodes.

Don’t fret: it’s still full of indecipherable financial jargon, ethically dubious trading practices and plenty of cocaine and shouting. It’s still soundtracked by beautiful, scattering synths and still features a lot of gorgeous humans doing horrendously ugly things, repeatedly. In fact, this series takes things even further than we thought possible — and that’s saying a lot for a show that has already dabbled in incest. But can it continue its delicate balancing act of making us care about these gorgeous and awful people, especially when it continues to introduce new ones every season?
