Industry 4.0 focus for Humber Business Week from LEP team

Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership is driving digital development as part of its Humber Business Week contribution.

The organisation will welcome SMEs to the University of Hull’s Canham Turner building to find out more about the work to help the Hull and East Yorkshire economy move towards Industry 4.0. This will include a look at the Made Smarter programme, an initiative that provides diagnostic, expert advice, funding and wrap around support for manufacturing SMEs to adopt digital technology.

The Digital Horizons event will also see the HEY LEP Growth Hub bringing together colleagues from the Department for Business, Energy, and the

Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the University of Hull, and industry to demonstrate how investing in technology can transform SMEs to become more productive whilst also reducing their carbon footprint.

Andy Hewitt, strategic policy and business growth manager, said: “We are really looking forward to meeting many of the region’s business leaders and sharing our vision on driving the local economy. This is the first opportunity we will have to discuss our strategy priorities in person and to hear directly from large and small organisations on their recovery from the pandemic and issues that are impacting on their business. We will have colleagues from DIT on our stand who can also advise on export opportunities in addition to our SME support colleagues, we hope to see many stakeholders there.”

Celebrating its first 14 months of operation, the HEY LEP is a sponsor of The Business Day which provides the fnale to the week. In addition to the planned interactive workshop on Industry 4.0, supported by both Groupe Atlantic and the University of Hull, the LEP has planned an interactive stand where delegates will be invited to participate in one of three activities, including receiving a free business digital capability assessment report which will help indicate how a business can further develop its digital capabilities.

Ahead of Friday’s Bridlington Spa eent, the organisation will officially launch its innovative new HEY Workforce website which offers practical support for SMEs who are responsible for the development and wellbeing of their staff.

Chris Howell, employment and skills manager at the LEP, said: “We are proud to launch this new resource that brings together a range of resources via a local portal. We have worked with a range of partners including the CIPD, the Money and Pensions Service, Active Humber and Mind who have contributed to the content.”

It will be unveiled at the MKM Stadium.
