Priyanshu Rajawat shocked HS Prannoy 21-17, 21-12 while Lakshya Sen, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and Sumeeth Reddy-Sikki Reddy advanced to the second round of the Indonesia Open BWF Super-1000 tournament in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Kiran George squandered two match points (20-18) in the third game to lose to Weng Yang Hong of China 21-11, 10-21, 20-22.

Treesa-Gayatri made short work of Cheng Yu-Pei and Sun Yu Hsing of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-11 in women's doubles. They will face seventh seeds Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara. The Japanese enjoy a 1-0 win-loss record against the Indian girls.

Sumeeth-Sikki downed Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai of USA 18-21, 21-16, 21-17 in the mixed doubles first round.

The shock of the day was Prannoy's defeat without a fight. Rajawat will face reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the second round.

Lakshya, who suffered first round losses in the last two tournaments, registered a fluent 21-12, 21-17 victory against Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan. In the second round he will face Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.
