Indigenous Yuelamu community facing water crisis as aquifer dries up

Local leader David Stafford is worried for the future of Yuelamu's youth as water insecurity looms. (ABC Alice Springs: Xavier Martin)

Yuelamu is a small Indigenous community of between 200 and 300 people, with the population varying depending on whether family has come to visit.

Located 280 kilometres north-west of Alice Springs, the community is in one of the most remote parts of the country, nestled among rocky hills at the end of a long stretch of red, dirt road.
