Indianapolis Colts’ WR Michael Pittman misses third straight practice

The Indianapolis Colts were back on the practice field on Friday for their final practice of the week ahead of Sunday’s game with Buffalo, and the team was still without wide receiver Michael Pittman.

Pittman has not practiced at all this week as he continues to navigate a back injury along with being listed on the injury report with a finger injury as well.

It’s been several weeks now that Pittman has been fighting through the back injury, which at one, reports suggested that he could end up on injured reserve.

However, Pittman has continued to push through the pain. A typical week for him has consisted of him sitting out on Wednesdays but being available during Thursday and Friday practices. So the fact that he hasn’t practiced at all this week is unusual.

“At this point, everybody’s fighting through some type of thing, so it’s not like I’m doing anything that’s special, but we’re just taking it week to week and then just seeing where it goes,” said Pittman on Wednesday.

Pittman, along with the rest of the Colts’ offense, has struggled to get going these past two games. During that span, Pittman has caught only two of his 10 targets for 30 yards.

“I’m not going to make excuses for it,” Pittman said of the back injury. “I mean like, if I’m out there, I’m out there.”

We also saw Pittman go from playing 95 percent of the team’s offensive snaps against Houston to just 76 percent of them against Minnesota, but when asked if that was due Pittman’s back, head coach Shane Steichen said, “not necessarily.”

Although Pittman continues to push through the back injury, he’s also made it clear since the start that this injury is very much week-to-week.

The Colts’ final injury report will be out on Friday afternoon at which point we will see if or what injury designation Pittman has.
