Both the Colts and Broncos are coming off their bye weeks and will meet in Denver for a Week 15 matchup that is essentially a must-win for Indianapolis if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.
At 6-7, the Colts trail the Broncos by two games for the AFC’s final wildcard spot. A win and that deficit is trimmed to only one game, while the Colts would hold the head-to-head tie-breaker and have the easiest remaining schedule in football.
A loss, however, and the New York Times playoff simulator gives the Colts only a 9% chance of making the playoffs at that point, requiring Indianapolis to win out along with either Baltimore or the LA Chargers–both of whom are 8-5–collapsing down the stretch.
The play of quarterback Anthony Richardson since his return to the starting lineup has provided the Colts’ with a needed spark, but that offense will be tested this week against a very stingy Broncos defense, allowing just 18.0 points per game.
Over the last decade or so, the Colts and Broncos have faced each other regularly every few years. While, of course, past games have zero bearing on Sunday’s outcome, let’s take a look back at the recent matchup history between these two teams.
