Indianapolis Colts’ LT Bernhard Raimann returns to practice

Ahead of Wednesday’s practice, Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Shane Steichen said that left tackle Bernhard Raimann will return to the practice field.

Originally it was reported that Raimann cleared concussion protocol but that hasn’t happened yet. He is able to practice but won’t be available for Sunday’s game until out of protocols.

Following the Colts’ Week 8 loss to Houston, Raimann reported concussion symptoms and would enter protocols. He did not practice at all last week and did not play against Minnesota.

In his place, rookie Matt Goncalves got the start against a very good Vikings front. By PFF’s metrics, Goncalves allowed three pressures, including one sack, and graded out well in the run game–ranking 10th among all offensive tackles in Week 9 in that category.

Overall, Raimann has had a good season for the Colts, building off of a strong sophomore season in 2023. Out of 79 eligible tackles, he ranks 23rd in pass-blocking efficiency and 26th in run-blocking grade.

Getting the Colts’ offense back on track this week against Buffalo will begin with getting Jonathan Taylor and the run game going. If accomplished, that can provide a much-needed boost to the passing game as well.

Buffalo will enter this game ranked 26th in yards per rush allowed and 24th in pressure rate. They recently signed two defensive tackles to bolster their rotation’s depth.

Defensive end Greg Rousseau has been one of the more productive pass rushers this season, totaling 39 pressures, the sixth-most among his position group.
