Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured victory in the Varanasi constituency, as announced by the election commission. Varanasi, also known as the spiritual capital of India, has once again shown its support for Modi, marking his third consecutive win in the diverse city situated along the banks of the sacred Ganges river in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi clinched the victory with an impressive 612,970 votes, enjoying a comfortable lead of 152,513 votes. Despite his enduring popularity in Varanasi, a segment of the Muslim population in the city feels overlooked and let down. This sentiment of neglect has been exacerbated by recent events, including tensions surrounding a historic mosque that has become a focal point in a case challenging India's secular principles.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress, the primary opposition party in India, has also secured a seat in Uttar Pradesh, signaling a diverse political landscape in the region.
