Indian-American teen Dev Shah won America's National Spelling Bee 2023 contest on June 1 by correctly spelling the word "psammophile"-- a word that is used for a type of organism that lives in sands. The 14-year-old boy from Florida was awarded a prize money of $50,000 for winning the 95th national bee contest.
“I would say I was confident on the outside but inside I was nervous, especially for my winning word — well, like, before. Not during,” Dev told AP, on winning the contest.
