Indian man with US Green Card challenges his immigration detention; DHS reveals his criminal record in court

An Indian national with Green Card, Yogesh Chandaben Dabhi, filed a petition stating that he is a lawful permanent resident of the US, but he was detained when he was returning to India as "an alien". The petition was filed in July, which prompted the administration to file a reply explaining why a Green Card holder was detained. The government produced two past judgments of conviction in which the Indian national received sentences totaling seven years of confinement. The administration said his detention was lawful because he had been convicted of two or more offences.
