PHUKET: The family of the Indian gangster murdered by hitmen will arrive in the next few days to take his body back to India, national police chief Suwat Jangyodsuk said on Friday.
Pol Gen Suwat said relatives of Jimi "Slice" Sandhu had advised the Royal Thai Police Office they would travel to Phuket either on Sunday or Monday to collect his body.
Sandhu was shot multiple times by two gunmen in a parking area near his rented beachfront villa on Rawai Beach in Muang district on the night of Feb 4. His body is in the Vachira Phuket Hospital morgue.
The murder is being investigated by 20 teams of police. On Thursday, they found two pistols in the sea not far from the murder scene. It was not yet known if they were the handguns used by the two killers.
The police chief reiterated that arrest warrants for the two suspects, Canadian nationals, would be issued soon, even though they both left the country on Sunday. The gunmen were former soldiers, he added.
Pol Gen Suwat said police would bring Interpol into the hunt for the two men and hoped they could be extradited to Thailand.
Security camera recordings showed two men in hooded jackets and short trousers near the crime scene after the shooting.
