Indian Derby: Things going as per plan for Enabler

MUMBAI: After his thrilling victory in the Ramniwas Ramnarain Ruia Gold Cup, considered a preparatory event for the HPSL Indian Derby, Malesh Narredu-trained Enabler has come back into contention for the biggest race of the Indian circuit to be held this Sunday.

The Pune Derby winner is now back at his best. "Everything is going as per plan now," Narredu told TOI on Thursday. "He has taken the race well and is in good condition. We are hoping for the best," added Narredu who has one Indian Derby crown under his belt as a trainer with his ward Be Safe's triumph in the 2015 edition.

"It's going to be a very competitive race with some very good horses running with fantastic previous performances. I am confident Enabler will stay the distance and hope he proves me right," observed Narredu.

Narredu's younger son Yash will assist the four-year-old son of Irish parents-Ruler Of The World and Rozene. The 26-yeqr-old Yash has partnered Enabler in all his seven career starts so far winning four of them and finishing second twice while going out of the board once (sixth finish).

Narredu says Enabler is up against some formidable rivals. "Both Jendayi and Jamari have won over mile and a half. Then we have Synthesis and Christofle. I think these four are the main dangers and then of course it is Indian Derby and most of them are running with some chance."
