The International Booker Prize is given to the best work of fiction translated into English, which is published in the UK or Ireland in the last year, every year. A longlist of 13 books was announced for International Booker Prize 2023 today. And, interestingly, Indian author Perumal Murugan's book 'Pyre' has made it to the International Booker Prize 2023.
'Pyre' by Perumal Murugan is originally written in Tamil and later translated into English by Aniruddhan Vasudevan. Set in rural Tamil Nadu of the 1980s, this is a story of young love which is pitted against social discrimination.
