The Indian Army has ordered 225 First-Person View (FPV) drones after a competitive evaluation and field trials that tested the systems at altitudes of up to 17,500 feet. The procurement comes as the Army accelerates its modernisation and transformation efforts, with the high-altitude testing highlighting the growing requirement for unmanned systems capable of operating in extreme battlefield conditions.
The drones were evaluated against parameters including endurance, speed, accuracy and other operational requirements, with trials conducted in terrain representative of the conditions faced by troops deployed along India's northern and western borders.
