Indian airlines have been plagued by a surge in hoax bomb threats, causing widespread disruptions and financial losses in the lead-up to the Diwali festival. Over 100 threats have been reported in recent days, affecting both domestic and international flights. The threats have led to delays, reroutings, and emergency landings, with airlines like IndiGo Airlines, Akasa Airlines, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air all impacted.
The severity of the situation was highlighted by incidents such as an Air India flight making an emergency landing in Canada and another flight being escorted by fighter jets in Singapore. Despite one arrest being made, the threats have persisted, with authorities struggling to identify the culprits behind the hoaxes.
