India's election authorities are continuing to count votes in the ongoing election, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition allies making significant gains.
According to data from the Election Commission, the BJP and its allies have secured at least 15 seats and are leading in approximately 280 seats. While this gives them a comfortable lead based on preliminary results, they are still below the 400-seat supermajority that Modi had aimed for in the 543-seat lower house of parliament.
