NAGPUR: Indian cagers' maiden run in the shorter format of basketball at the Asian Games came to an end in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
After qualifying as lucky losers for the knockouts, the 55th ranked India's U-23 women's team outplayed world No. 27 Malaysia 16-6 and confirmed their maiden quarterfinal berth to script history - no other Indian team has ever entered the last eight stage of the games. Their journey, however, came to an end when they found Chinese Taipei too tall to handle, losing their last-eight clash 10-21.
