India suffers historic Test defeat, NZ wins first Test series in India

India lost by 113 runs

Pune: Pune: India suffered another crashing defeat at the hands of New Zealand in th second Test of the three-match series in Pune on Saturday. 

Santner takes 13 wickets

Riding on spinner Mitchell Santner's 13 wickets haul, visitors defeated Rohit Sharma-led side by 113 runs, registering their first Test series win on India soil. 

First home defeat for India

This is India's first home Test series defeat since 2012. With this victory, New Zealand took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.

For Kiwis, Santner took 6 wickets in the fourth innings of the match, taking its wickets tally to 13 in the match. 

Except Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 77 off 65 balls, no one could face the quality bowling of New Zealand. 

Batting first, New Zealand scored 259 runs in first innings, thanks to Devon Conway's 76 and Rachin Ravindra's 65. It was a good start for India as Washington Sundar took 7/59. He got good support from his senior Ravichandran Ashwin who got 3 scalps.

India lost first home Test series since 2012

Later, India skittled out for 156 runs in their first innings. Left-arm spinner Santner claimed 7/53.

The Black Caps scored 255 runs in their second inning, setting a target of 358 runs for India.
