India loses long-running ATP 250 tennis event to Hong Kong

PUNE: In a major blow to Indian tennis, the ATP 250 men’s tennis event that had been held in India for the past 27 years has been moved to Hong Kong.

The tournament, which was first held in 1996 in New Delhi, had been conducted in Pune since 2018 under the banner Tata Open Maharashtra. Chennai had been its home for 21 years in between.
