India Couture Week: A kaleidoscope of Indian couture

In India, occasion-wear is where the tangible income gets invested from majority of the people. If you are a designer and striving to accomplish profitability and distinction in your business, it’s the game of high-end traditional wear you need to master. Weddings are the most luxurious and remarkable aspect of every Indian family. From bride and groom to all of their relatives, spending a generous amount of money on occasion-wear is a very honourable and conventional ritual which has been in practice for centuries in India. Experts say in India if you wish to make a mark as a designer, how good you are at high-end wedding outfits is all that matters. Within the last decade, many ready-to-wear and fast fashion brands have started doing rounds and with fashion evolving in today's time, the younger generation prefers something indigenous which is realistically considered in spending. But the majority of people still believe in investing lavishly in their occasion wear. A modern take on classic heritage clothing is what India's well-known couturiers are known for.

Delhi is not only a capital of good food and fashionable residential but the capital does serves the best couture collections coming from India's most prestigious designers based in the city itself. FDCI is back with the 15th edition of The Indian Couture Week 2022. The passion and deliverance we get to see for the physical event after two years have been tremendous. Thirteen couturiers will be showcasing their rich and high-end couture pieces resembling Indian culture, heritage, royalty and finest craftsmanship. India is known for big fat weddings and their wedding trousseaus, this year ten-day long extravaganza will bring back Indian couture pieces with the kaleidoscopic colours, cuts and richness of the traditional fabrics woven with golden and silver treads meeting precious embellishments. This significant milestone was celebrated with the opening show by fashion mogul, the most celebrated designer of the millennium Tarun Tahiliani. Tarun Tahiliani teamed up with jewellery partner Goenka India to drop his couture collection where he created a seating space which offered all the guests, the front raw experience because he wanted his craftsmanship to be viewed closely and not something to be seen from distance, this year Tarun created a mixed twist in his signature silhouettes with European influences in high shine and dewy skin makeup. the hairstyles had jewels and accessories to highlight the look. Heavyweight couture outfits are all set to put the regality of the event in the spotlight.

All the couturiers coming to showcase their collections with intricate details and the Fashion Design Council of India has taken a big step forward into the sustainable culture by teaming up with Tencel Luxe. Tencel Is one of the most recognised fabric companies which is known for its excellence in the botanical Alternative to silk and other vegan fabrics to reduce carbon footprints. FDCI is the apex body of fashion design in india, represented by over 400 members. To create the best that we can from our resources and celebrate its regality is the mantra of The India Couture Week.
