India beat Afghanistan by nine wickets to make U-19 Tri-Nation tournament final

NEW DELHI: Left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari delivered an impressive performance, claiming figures of 4/11 in seven overs as India secured a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan.

This triumph earned India a spot in the final of the Tri-Nation U-19 tournament in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Opting to bowl first, India dismantled Afghanistan for a mere 88 runs in 33 overs, with Naman Tiwari leading the attack and claiming impressive figures of 4/11 in 7 overs.

Tiwari received support from his pace-bowling partners, Dhanush Gowda and Aaradhya Shukla, who contributed by taking two wickets each, collectively helping India to dominate Afghanistan's batting lineup.

Off-spinner Priyanshu Moliya also bagged two.

Opener Adarsh Singh played a crucial role in anchoring the chase, remaining unbeaten with a 39-ball 52, which included six fours and two sixes. India comfortably reached the target with 227 balls to spare

With this victory, India maintained their perfect record with three wins in as many matches in the Tri-Nation tournament. Their next challenge is the last round-robin fixture against the hosts scheduled for Saturday.

The final is slated on Wednesday.
