IND vs AUS: New ball or old ball - no problem for Jasprit Bumrah

NEW DELHI: India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been the standout performer in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series, demonstrating exceptional skill and effectiveness with both the new and old ball. With the new ball, Bumrah has consistently troubled Australia's batters, making early inroads into their lineup.

Across the series, Bumrah has bowled 40 overs with the new ball in the first 20 overs of his spells, claiming 12 wickets at a remarkable average of 7.08.

His strike rate of 20.0 highlights his ability to deliver breakthroughs at regular intervals, dismantling Australia’s top order with precision.

Bumrah's impact hasn’t diminished as the ball ages.

In another 40 overs with the old ball, he has claimed five crucial wickets, maintaining an average of 24.40 and a strike rate of 46.8, showcasing his mastery of reverse swing and control in the latter stages of innings.

In the series opener, Bumrah led India’s bowling attack with a five-wicket haul in the first innings, followed by three wickets in the second, earning him the Man of the Match award in India’s 295-run victory.

In Adelaide’s day-night Test, Bumrah rattled Australia’s top order, dismissing Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Nathan McSweeney to finish with four wickets, although India suffered a 10-wicket defeat.

In Brisbane’s ongoing Test, with Indian bowlers struggling, Bumrah again stepped up, claiming another five-wicket haul, further solidifying his reputation as India’s most potent bowling weapon.
