The nonpartisan general runoff elections in city councils in San Antonio, Irving, Fort Worth, and Dallas, Texas, were on June 10, 2023. The general elections were held on May 6, and the filing deadline to run was on Feb. 17.
At least two incumbents lost their re-election bids. Results were as follows:
- San Antonio City Council District 1: Sukh Kaur defeated incumbent Mario Bravo with 59.1% of the vote to Bravo’s 40.9%.
- San Antonio City Council District 7: Marina Alderete Gavito defeated Dan Rossiter with 62.2% of the vote to Rossiter’s 37.8%.
- Irving City Council Place 3: Abdul Khabeer defeated incumbent Mark Zeske with 66.2% of the vote to Zeske’s 33.8%.
- Irving City Council Place 5: Mark Cronenwett defeated Heather Stroup with 56% of the vote to Stroup’s 44%.
- Fort Worth City Council District 11: Jeanette Martinez defeated Rick Herring with 59.1% of the vote to Herring’s 40.9%.
- Dallas City Council District 3: Zarin Gracey defeated Joe Tave with 62.6% of the vote to Tave’s 37.4%.
San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Irving are the second, third, fifth, and 11th largest cities by population in Texas, respectively. San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Irving are the seventh, ninth, 13th, and 86th largest cities in the U.S. by population, respectively.
