Jose Mourinho answered just three questions before leaving a Roma press conference as he lamented the state of the pitch at Vitesse Arnhem.
The Italian side are in the Netherlands ahead of their Europa Conference League clash.
The competition provides Roma's only chance of silverware in what is Mourinho's first season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma topped their group and are among the favourites to lift the trophy, but the Special One is less than impressed with the playing conditions.
Vitesse play at the GelreDome but Mourinho has claimed the pitch is something he has "never experienced".
He said: "I just had a bad experience. I looked at the field for a while and that made me very sad. I have been coming to the Netherlands for twenty years and have never experienced this.
"I am used to good fields in the Netherlands. This field is incredible. I do not know what happened."
Vitesse progressed in a group that featured Tottenham, Mourinho's former side.
The Dutch team beat the north Londoners at home and were narrowly beaten back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Mourinho is fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead for his side.
He stated: "Vitesse is a strong opponent and we want to win the Conference League. At this stage of the tournament, any small mistake will be penalised.
"We are in good form, have been unbeaten for four games in a row, so I am confident in a good result.”
Roma saw off Atalanta at the weekend with Tammy Abraham grabbing their winner in the first-half.
The Italian side are well off the pace in Serie A, sitting 13 points off league leaders AC Milan whilst they are also out of the Coppa Italia.
Mourinho knew that Roma was going to be a long-term project as the club aim to end a trophy drought that dates back to 2008.
Nevertheless the Special One, who has enjoyed huge success over the past two decades, is still determined to deliver where it matters.
“I want to give titles to the club, because a club lives on titles, the titles increase the passion of the fans," he said earlier this season.
“I understood that the love for Roma goes beyond trophies, it’s an eternal passion. But the win is missing, and we are constructing a project to arrive.
"If we arrive with me, it would be perfect. If not, it will be beautiful to contribute to the construction of the future, everyone’s dream.”
