Limescale, the chalky white residue that accumulates in appliances that use water, can cause so many issues for households.
From kettles and coffee machines to dishwashers and washing machines - all of these appliances can see a buildup of limescale, however, when it comes to kettles in particular, limescale can ruin hot drinks.
It can also have a bigger impact on appliances, shortening the lifespan of a kettle as it corrodes the elements.

Limescale deposits also negatively impact the energy efficiency of a kettle, meaning that it takes longer and uses more energy and therefore money, to heat up the water.
In need to get some kettle descaling tips, one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page for some advice, Express reports.
Beth Clarke wrote: “I need the kettle to descale ideas, please. I’ve tried Oust, lemons and lemon juice. None of which are tough enough for the job.
“They remove about 50 per cent of that. I use my kettle a lot so any suggestions to keep the limescale to a minimum would be great too."
Although households can save money by splashing out on fancy and expensive chemical kettle descalers, cleaning enthusiasts recommend saving money and instead using more natural methods that are just as effective.
The vast majority of Hinch’s fans were praising the effects of citric acid as a means of getting the job in a small space of time.
Lynne Collins said: “I used to always buy the descaling sachets from Wilko, but someone on here suggested using citric acid as a cheaper and more effective way and I’ve never looked back.”
Fouzia Azeem instructed: “Fill kettle a quarter way up with water, boil, add citric acid and leave for 20 minutes. The kettle will come out sparkling.”
Deborah Clark commented: “Citric acid after the kettle has been boiled, leave for an hour or so if bad. You’ll get incredible results.”
