Incredible Erling Haaland stats and how unstoppable Man City striker compares to Kylian Mbappe

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is continuing to break records left, right and centre for Pep Guardiola's side. The 22-year-old has already found the net a mammoth 17 times for the Blues this season, taking just 11 games to do so.

Settling into life at the Etihad Stadium pretty quickly, the former Borussia Dortmund man was unstoppable on Sunday afternoon, as City swept aside rivals United 6-3 in the Premier League.

With comparisons already being made with some of English football's greatest goalscorers, the Norweigan looks set to eclipse the previous goal tally for a single season, if he carries on in the same form for the rest of the 22/23 campaign.

The impressive stat to begin is that Haaland is only nine goals away from equally the record tally scored by both Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son during the whole of the 21/22 campaign. The pair found the net 23 times in 38 games, with the City forward already scoring 14 times in just 8 Premier League outings.

With the record goal tally for a 38-game season currently standing at 32 goals scored by Salah during the 2017/18 term, to put into perspective a little further, Haaland is on track to finish with around 66 goals in the 38-match season, currently averaging 1.75 goals per games.

A new era has certainly arrived in terms of mammoth statistics achieved, with both Haaland and PSG forward Kylian Mbappe projecting themselves into the limelight over recent years. But how do the pair of them currently stack up against each other?

In 341 matches during Mbappe's career so far, the former Monaco man has found the net 234 times, giving him an average ratio of 0.68 goals per game. Now, if we compare that to Haaland's efforts so far, the 22-year-old has hit 173 goals in just 214 appearances, giving him an average of 0.81 goals per game.

With the pair already achieving numbers most could only dream of, it appears the world has found the next Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo comparison. Both are under the age of 25 too, with the prospect about just what can be achieved unfathomable for most to think of.
