Netflix just released a new dystopian drama topping charts across the world

Human rights activists stage a performance calling for continued efforts to locate children disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship (1976–1983), including grandchildren of sci-fi comic author Hector Oesterheld, whose work inspired the Netflix series "The Eternaut," in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tuesday, May 13, 2025. A chilling dystopian drama from Argentina has taken Netflix by storm, topping the charts just days after its release. "The Eternaut," a six-episode Spanish-language series, plunges viewers into a terrifying scenario: a seemingly ordinary card game among friends is abruptly interrupted by a power outage, dying cellphones, and a lethal snowfall that decimates the population.

As the friends grapple with survival, the horrifying realization dawns that the threat extends beyond their immediate circle – humanity itself hangs in the balance. This blend of sci-fi elements and exploration of human resilience has resonated with audiences worldwide, propelling "The Eternaut" to the number one spot among Netflix's most-streamed non-English language TV shows. The series premiered its first season on April 30.
