Most of us probably think of gravestones as things that stay put. But in May 2021, hundreds of them ended up on the seafloor off New Jersey. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) page on the project, state staff placed an estimated 400 gravestones and mixed concrete rubble on the Barnegat Light Reef. The material was about 60 tons in weight.
