Muswellbrook mayor Jeff Drayton has called for an end date to be put on coal mining in the Hunter to give both the coal industry and clean energy investors much-needed certainty about the region's future.
Cr Drayton recently returned from Germany where he was part of a delegation that examined the country's clean energy transition in the industrial regions of Lusatia, Saxony, and Rhineland.
