Police made arrests over illegal immigration and drug driving at a Stena Line terminal.
Merseyside Police along with the National Crime Agency, North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, Immigration, Human Trafficking, and HMRC worked together to inspect the 12 Quays ferry terminal in Birkenhead on Wednesday, April 20. Officers were seen stopping vehicles coming off Stena Line ferries and speaking to passengers.
Throughout the day officers made three arrests for drug driving, POCD (possession of a controlled drug), and illegal immigration and issued four traffic tickets.

The work was part of Operation Vermont, which targets issues such as drug dealing and its associated criminality.
Posting about the day of action on Facebook, Merseyside Police said: "We know that our communities welcome seeing officers on the street carrying out patrols but we also want to show you more of what we do to put a stop to this behind the scenes.
"Information from our communities plays a vital part in bringing offenders to justice, so please continue to come forward to us, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously, so that we can take action."
