Images show cars left stranded as heavy snow batters Scotland

IMAGES have shown cars stuck in traffic and snowboarders braving the elements as storms batter the north of Scotland.

Several rail and ferry services have been disrupted once again on Sunday amid a yellow warning for wind.

The below images show traffic which was stuck in snow drifts on the A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul road.

Another picture showed a snowboarder battling through a blizzard at the Lecht Ski Centre in the Highlands.

Winds of up to 75mph have been forecast for parts of the UK as the Christmas getaway period continues to see disruption.

P&O Ferries said journeys between Larne in Northern Ireland and Cairnryan in southern Scotland have been cancelled until at least 8pm on Sunday.

Speed restrictions are also in place on a number of routes across Scotland’s rail network.
