Ilkay Gundogan has taken aim at referee Anthony Taylor and claimed history shows that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has a point about referees showing bias toward Liverpool at Anfield.
Guardiola was left furious with Taylor as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat on Merseyside on Sunday afternoon. Mohamed Salah sealed all three points for Liverpool in the second half.
However, Phil Foden thought he had given City the lead when he crashed home a loose ball in the box, only for Taylor to go to the monitor and disallow it for a foul in the build-up by Erling Haaland on Fabinho.

REACTION: Pep Guardiola hits out at decisions and claims he was targeted with coins
Guardiola was furious in his post-match press conference and seemed to suggest the game being played at Liverpool's home stadium meant the decision went against them. He said: “This is Anfield, every time you come here lately unfortunately this is Anfield.”
And when asked about the comments made by his boss, Gundogan believes the Catalan has a point. He said: “Well, the experience says he is not so wrong, to be honest. The experience of the last few years.
“I mean also today if you look at the situation. It seems very soft to us. Obviously they will say it is a clear foul and we will say it is very soft."
Gundogan also revealed that Taylor had spoken to City before the game about how he wanted it to be run but went against his own advice when he ruled the goal out.
“I said to the group before as well that the sad thing as well is that before the game the referee has explicitly mentioned to us they would not whistle for soft fouls, which they actually did all 90 minutes,” Gundogan told Viaplay Football.
“So they are very strict and also in that situation where we have scored and the referee is three or four meters away from the situation.
“He has clear vision to it and thought it was not a foul. It is quite soft and I don’t know why it is going back to the VAR.
“But then again, football is full of opinions. Today they decided it is against us. Past several times as well at Anfield. It is what it is and we need to accept it.”
