Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has secured a surprise Premier League record for the Blues against Newcastle United this Sunday.
It had been the perfect possible start for City against the Magpies at a raucous St James' Park. A cross by Bernardo Silva in the opening five minutes found the Blues' new captain in acres of space and his close-range finish gave City the advantage.
Newcastle reacted well to going behind to the Blues and equalised in the 28th minute through Miguel Almiron. The Paraguayan bundled a cross home off his upper thigh and despite appeals for offside VAR awarded the goal.

It went from bad to worse for City as Callum Wilson did well to get past Ruben Dias and fire home Eddie Howe's side's second goal of the afternoon and turn the game on its head.
For Gundogan though there has been some good news on a personal level. According to Statman Dave, his goal for City was his 23rd in the Premier League in the last three seasons - that figure is more than any other City man over that time period.
Despite being a surprisingly low number, especially considering Cristiano Ronaldo managed 18 goals in one season for Manchester United in the last campaign, Pep Guardiola's side pride themselves on getting goals all over the pitch and Gundogan has been a consistent feature of an ever-changing squad.
