Manchester City expect Germany international Ilkay Gundogan to leave the club when his contract expires this summer - according to reports - with Barcelona mooted to be in discussions with the central midfielder over a proposed free transfer.
Gundogan, 32, was the first signing made by Pep Guardiola as City manager. He has totted-up 290 appearances since touching down in the Premier League from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2016, with nine major trophies won over his stay.
However, with only three months left to run on his contract, Gundogan - appointed club captain this season - has yet to come to an agreement over a would-be extension. Barcelona have regularly been credited with an interest in the player along with City teammate Bernardo Silva.

Reports from Spanish publication Sport indicate that City "expect" Gundogan to be playing elsewhere next season. He spent five years with Dortmund before moving to City for around €27million.
Elsewhere, reports from Football Insider suggest City have no plans to sell England midfielder Kalvin Phillips when the market reopens. Phillips signed for the Premier League champions from Leeds United last summer but has only made two starts for the club in all competitions.
Phillips, 27, cost City around £42million and has been linked with a return to Elland Road this summer. However, Guardiola reportedly "wants to keep him" at the Etihad Stadium with question marks over Gundogan and his future - not to mention Bernardo.
It had also been claimed Phillips might be used as a make-weight to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice.
