Iker Casillas believes that Manchester City stopper Ederson is currently the second best goalkeeper in the world right now.
The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the greatest 'keepers in Premier League history after helping City to four titles in five seasons. He has also won the Golden Glove on three occasions - a feat only bettered by Petr Cech (4) since its introduction in 2003/04.
Remarkably, Ederson has conceded just 193 goals in 249 City appearances since joining the club from Benfica back in 2017 - less than one a game - with the Brazilian keeping 124 clean sheets in the process. He has been as impressive this term and made a number of excellent saves against Sevilla last week.
When delivering his verdict on the world's best to 433, Casillas put Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois as his number one, with Ederson in second place. Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak came in third spot, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Barcelona and Manuel Neuer making up the top-five.
This means that there is no place for Liverpool star Alisson, however, despite winning the Golden Glove twice as well as the Yashin Trophy - awarded by France Football to the best shot-stopper in the world - in 2019. However, Alisson's omission from the list is perhaps unsurprising given the defensive troubles Liverpool have experienced this season.
The Anfield club have only kept two clean sheets in their seven Premier League and Champions League outings this season, conceding a total of 10 goals. Alisson himself gave an abject verdict on Liverpool's performances after they were beaten 2-1 by arch-rivals Manchester United in August.

The former Roma shot-stopper suggested teams have worked out how to "exploit" the Reds' defensive frailties, telling Liverpoolfc.com : "With our attitude changing that. Sometimes during the games we make a few mistakes that you get punished for that. Teams, when they play against us, they know the way we play and they try to exploit that and they try to use that against us.
"[It's] something that most times works for us, [but] sometimes we get punished for that and tonight it is what happened. Sometimes we have to be more perfect in a game. It's difficult to do that, but as a team being together we can do that and we can improve. We just have to keep working hard in our game in everything and defending with the ball."
But it is Ederson who comes out on top between the duo, who have battled for Brazil's number one jersey over the past couple of years.
