IKEA urgently recalls thousands of mirrors over head injury and cuts fears

IKEA has issued an urgent recall for over 8,300 mirrors sold in their stores over safety fears.

The homeware giant is recalling a batch of LETTAN mirrors due to the use of incorrect material in the manufacturing of some wall fittings. The fittings, that attach the product to the wall, can break and result in head injury, cuts, and lacerations.

The affected mirror has date stamps, located at the back of the mirror, before and including 2105. The affected product was available for purchase from February 2021 and there are currently 8,362 of the mirrors in the Republic of Ireland.

A notice on the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission website said: "Customers should stop using the product immediately and contact IKEA to order the replacement wall fittings free of charge. Proof of purchase is not required.

"To order the replacement wall fittings free of charge, to obtain the mirror fitting replacement instructions, for affected article numbers or for further information regarding this recall please visit the IKEA website or call customer service on 01 541 3302."
