An IKEA shopper shared their unique use for one of the furniture giant's shelving units, and other consumers have called the idea "brilliant".
The Swedish retailer sells EKENABBEN open shelving units for the price of £35, though may not have expected customers to use it as a laundry storage solution.
It consists of a natural wooden frame and white shelves, and according to IKEA's website it can be easily customised, painted, or sanded.

The product description continues: "In EKENABBEN open shelving unit you can store lots of things and easily access them when needed.
"Adapt the storage to your needs with things like boxes and binders.
"The shelving section is made of untreated wood – so you can freshen it up with sandpaper or paint it to make it more personal."
After using her unit to store laundry baskets, as well as detergent pods on top, one shopper took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group to share the suggestion.
They wrote: "IKEA laundry basket storage idea. So I needed somewhere to store my laundry baskets but didn’t want to take up space on my counter tops so I thought of using this office shelving unit from IKEA. It cost £35.

"I know you can get foldable baskets but I like that I can quickly pull these out from the side and put the washing in and that you can store laundry bits on the top."
Before long, the post had received over 6,300 likes — with more than 1,500 users sharing their thoughts in the comments.
One wrote: "That’s brilliant. And looks lovely. I got this awful looking laundry trolley thing from Amazon and looks like something out of a hospital."
A second posted: "Amazing idea! Thank you I think I may use this!"
"This is brilliant, off to Ikea I go," revealed a third.
A fourth said: "Brilliant idea instead of piles and baskets lying all over."
Another commented: "This looks so neat, clean and aesthetically pleasing I wanna cry. Wonderful job"
However not all members of the group were fully convinced by the idea, with some suggesting that it would not work in homes with young children.
One stated: "Looks great! My toddler would probably try eat the capsules thinking they were sweets though, might not be best for families with little ones"
"I’d love this but my toddler wouldn’t allow it," a second echoed.
