One savvy IKEA shopper has explained a little-known hack that can help homeware fans purchase some new furniture completely free of charge on their next visit.
Whether it be a new chest of drawers, or just some cute home decorations, everyone loves a trip to the Swedish flat-pack giant.
But before you go spending some of your heard-earned money, it looks like the retailer runs a little-known scheme that can help you get rid of some old furniture to make way for new items - all without spending a penny.
As reported by The Mirror, a content creator, known as Jess, took to TikTok to share how she got IKEA furniture for free by using the retailer's Buy Back Estimator Tool, which let her find out how much the furniture she was looking to replace would be worth.
In a video that has since been viewed nearly 90,000 times, Jess said: "Here's how I got IKEA furniture for free. I went to the website and used the buy back estimator tool to input the names of furniture I already own. I selected the condition and got an estimation report which I took in-store where they inspected everything and gave me a gift card which I then used to buy some food and some cute new stuff".
She further added: "The perfect way to recycle your old IKEA furniture and get new stuff for free!"
While a few other TikTok users pointed out that the scheme doesn't necessarily provide you with free furniture, there were many who were thankful to learn about the little-known scheme that they had previously never heard about.
"I NEEDED TO KNOW THIS! Thank you", added one person.
"Queen of hacks", said a second.
According to the IKEA website, the Buyback and Ressell scheme allows you sell used IKEA furniture back to the store which you can then be provided with credit for to use in-store. The DIY giant explained that helps to prevent secondhand furniture from going to waste.
To use it for yourself, all you need to do is check that the item you want to resell is on the list of eligible items. You can then use the buyback estimator tool for a quote on the amount you could possibly get back.
Then all you need to do is pop into your local IKEA with your fully assembled furniture and estimation number within 30 days, and you will be provided with store credit once a co-worker has compared the furniture's condition and estimation price.
You can find out more about the IKEA Buyback and Ressell scheme on the retailer's website.
