Ikea is serving up a three-course meal for £7.95 at its stores across the country. The cheap dinner is being offered in the chain's restaurants to mark Midsummer, an important festivity in Sweden where the flat-pack furniture business was founded.
The meals will be available on Thursday, June 22. It will include Ikea's popular meatballs, veggieballs or vegan-friendly plantballs, along with a starter, dessert and hot or cold soft drink.
Events are also taking place including traditional Swedish Midsummer activities such as flower crown making and maypole dancing. Children's meals will also be served priced 95p.
Some Ikea stores are putting on entertainment, too. In Bristol a Swedish folk band is performing while Sheffield, Edinburgh and Nottingham have an Abba tribute.
Andrias O'Shaughnessy, store manager at Ikea Bristol, said: "The lead up to the Midsummer celebrations are full of excitement for everyone – especially little ones. We’re delighted to be hosting a series of activities as part of the IKEA’s Midsummer celebrations, to help families enjoy an affordable and fun day out with us this June."
Explaining the roots of Midsummer, Visit Sweden says: "Midsummer is the longest day of the year and was long considered a magical night. In agrarian times, the Swedes arranged Midsummer celebrations to welcome summertime and the season of fertility.

"Most Swedes travel to the countryside to celebrate Midsummer with family and friends. Many cities turn quiet, but midsummer festivities are also arranged there and all over the country. Participants are welcome to help decorate and raise the maypole."
To join in the celebrations, customers can sign up online. Alternatively ask for physical tickets from the Ikea restaurant in-store.
