I don't know about you, but I'll always be impressed by a kitchen appliance that prioritizes versatility – particularly when it comes at an affordable price. If a piece of kitchenware can do the job of two or three other appliances, I'd say that it's money well spent; and while it's only just hit the shelves, I'm getting rather excited about the Gatebo Microwave Oven and Air Fryer from IKEA.
These days, it's the best air fryers and the best toaster ovens that usually take pride of place on our countertops, and you may wonder whether: do you really need a microwave. However, with a multifunctional appliance like IKEA's Gatebo Microwave Oven and Air Fryer, you can combine the practicality of a traditional microwave with the benefits of an air fryer and grill – saving all-important counter space while you're at it. Compact, contemporary, and at just $200, I have a feeling that it's about to sell out – and fast.
IKEA is known for blending reliable functionality with sleek, Scandi design, and I'd say that this microwave oven does just that. It can grill, air fry, and microwave at the touch of a button.
The microwave itself boasts 900 watts of power, with 10 preset cooking times and a defrost mode. But the big selling point of the IKEA Gatebo Microwave Oven of course, is that it also features an air fryer function (with a dedicated tray) plus a grill function, so you can easily get that smoky, oven-grilled flavor without the lengthy cooking time.
One of my goals this year is to nail my meal prep routine, and I think a countertop hero like this will make all the difference. Whether I'm air frying chicken thighs, grilling vegetables, or simply reheating leftovers, the IKEA Gatebo Microwave Oven can do it all. And since I've already stocked up on IKEA's glass food storage containers, I'll be ready to store my weekly meals in style.

Here at Homes & Gardens, we've tested countless microwaves, ovens, and air fryers, and we're always looking for appliances that provide a seamless blend of style and practicality. Although we haven't got our hands on IKEA's Gatebo Microwave Oven and Air Fryer just yet, it's safe to say that we were thrilled about its release: it's not every day that we spot a multifunctional appliance at such an unbeatable price.
What I love most about the IKEA's Microwave Oven and Air Fryer is its streamlined, contemporary look – which is ideal for my small kitchen. I'm definitely lacking in counter space, but I'd be delighted for this microwave oven to claim some of my precious kitchen real estate; and since it does the job of three appliances in one, it's a no-brainer.
