IKEA Cardiff has reopened its free in-store creche area after it shut in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Known as Småland, the creche re-opened on Tuesday, April 11.
The creche, which can be used by children aged 3-10, features a soft play area, arts and crafts, and toys and games. Children can use Småland for 45 minutes while their parents and guardians are visiting the store, and has a dedicated team of members to look after the little ones.
Parents and guardians can only book once they arrive at IKEA. In Cardiff, Småland can be found on the first floor of the IKEA store at Ferry Road in Grangetown. The creche is open between 10am and 6pm between Monday and Saturday and between 11am and 5pm on Sunday.

IKEA says it is working with My Ohana as a partner to deliver their childcare services. An IKEA spokesperson said: "At IKEA, we believe in the power of play as a tool for children to explore the world around them, inspire curiosity and form meaningful relationships. We are delighted to be reopening the doors to our free Småland service once again and working with our long-term partners at My Ohana to provide their expert childcare.
"Småland is a place where children can spark their creativity and imagination, by immersing themselves in endless play and fun with our fantastic range of toys. We look forward to welcoming parents and children to our stores and provide them with the opportunity to delve into the full experience of IKEA, with the peace of mind that their children are in a safe and playful environment."
Parents and guardians booking a child into Småland must be over 18. The same person who registers them on arrival at the store must also collect them from their session. You can find out more about Småland here.
