IIT Madras launches Master’s course for international students

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras launched a two-year international interdisciplinary Master’s Programme (I2MP) on Monday.

The programme offers academic flexibility to learn and work in areas that define the future of global engineering and technology and aims to provide special emphasis on increasing student enrolment from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

The Institute sent delegations to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and next week a team would be visiting Nepal to promote the programme which was launched in the presence of delegates from the consulates of Sri Lanka, Japan, France, the U.S. and Bangladesh.

Institute director V. Kamakoti and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations’ finance committee chairman Deepak Karanjikar, besides senior IIT officials participated. Mr. Kamakoti said: “IIT Madras is excited to share the knowledge and expertise across the globe through the international interdisciplinary Master’s Programme.”

Mr. Karanjika, while lauding the effort, urged the institute to introduce an Indian knowledge systems for international students. The last date to apply is April 15. Students may visit https://ge.iitm.ac.in/I2MP to apply.

Scholarships are offered to meritorious international students taking the programme.
