Igor Tudor responds to Tottenham sack questions after Crystal Palace defeat

Igor Tudor insists he is focused on saving Tottenham from relegation amid suggestions he could be sacked after three games.

The interim manager’s miserable tenure hit a new nadir on Thursday night with a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Dominic Solanke had given Spurs the lead against the run of play, only for Micky van de Ven to give away a penalty and be sent off minutes later.

Ismaila Sarr converted from the spot, and added another before half-time after Jorgen Strand Larsen had put Palace into the lead.

It was a nightmare scenario for Spurs, who would have looked at the visit of Palace as one of their easier games of the run-in.

The result leaves Spurs just one point above the relegation zone with nine games to play, having lost five in a row and picked up just four points from the last 33 available.

Asked if he thinks he could be sacked, Tudor told reporters after the game: “I don't think in that direction. I have my job to do and that's all.”

Pushed on if he will be in charge for the trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next week, Tudor added: “No comment on that question.”

Spurs have confirmed that Tudor will face the media on Monday ahead of the trip to Spain, and could be joined by new assistant coach Ivan Javorcic.

Javorcic, who worked under Tudor at Juventus and Lazio, was finalising a work permit this week.

Cristiano Giuntoli, another Tudor ally, was also spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night amid the club’s search for a new sporting director.

It remains unclear whether the former Juventus director is of interest to Spurs or a guest of Tudor’s, with whom he has worked previously.
