‘Ignored repeated warnings’: Iran fires on container ship in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard opened fire on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, damaging the vessel in a fresh escalation as ceasefire talks failed to take off.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the attack occurred around 7:55 am (local time), when a Guard gunboat approached the ship and opened fire without issuing a warning.
