Iga Swiatek Parts Ways With Coach After Successful Stint

Top-ranked Iga Swiatek has announced her decision to part ways with her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski after three years of successful collaboration. The Polish tennis player shared the news on Friday, emphasizing that the split was a mutual decision.

During their partnership, Swiatek achieved remarkable success, winning four out of her five Grand Slam titles and ascending to the pinnacle of the women's rankings. In an Instagram post, Swiatek expressed gratitude for their work together and acknowledged the significant impact Wiktorowski had on her career.

Swiatek appointed Wiktorowski as her coach at the conclusion of the 2021 season. Under his guidance, she secured 19 of her 22 career titles and clinched an Olympic bronze medal in Paris earlier this year.

Reflecting on their collaboration, Swiatek praised Wiktorowski's experience, analytical approach, and profound tennis knowledge, which played a pivotal role in their shared achievements. Their primary objective was to propel Swiatek to the top spot in the world rankings, a goal that Wiktorowski was the first to articulate.

Following her exit from the U.S. Open after a quarterfinal defeat to Jessica Pegula, Swiatek withdrew from the China Open in Beijing and the Korea Open in Seoul, citing personal reasons and fatigue, respectively.

In light of this significant change in her coaching team, Swiatek disclosed her intention to engage with a new coach in the coming weeks. She revealed that discussions were underway with foreign coaches, signaling her readiness to embark on the next phase of her career.

Wiktorowski, who was honored as the WTA's Coach of the Year by his peers last year, received heartfelt appreciation from Swiatek in her Instagram post. She extended her best wishes to him, acknowledging his dedication and expressing hope that he would enjoy a well-deserved break.

As Swiatek prepares to select a new coach to guide her future endeavors, the tennis world eagerly anticipates her next move and the continued success that has defined her career thus far.
