The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has issued a plea to state forces and combatants to uphold its neutrality and support in delivering urgent humanitarian assistance to those in need in conflict zones. The organization reported that 24 of its aid workers have lost their lives this year, with the majority of the incidents occurring in the Gaza Strip.
The recent deaths of two aid workers, Haitham Tubasi and Suhail Hassouna, from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, have further highlighted the dangers faced by humanitarian workers. The pair were tragically killed when their ambulance was struck in the border city of Rafah, Gaza.
