'If you import people from Third World Countries...': Trump reiterates stance on immigration

US President Donald Trump on Monday renewed his criticism of immigration, saying that large-scale migration from developing countries could affect the future of the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Sadly, if you import people from Third World Countries, you quickly become a Third World Country-- And there's not a thing you can do about it. Make America Great Again!”

The post highlighted immigration and national identity, issues that have remained central to Trump's political agenda. The phrase “Make America Great Again,” a key slogan of his movement, was also included in the message.

Court blocks H-1B visa fee plan

Trump's latest remarks come amid his administration's broader efforts to tighten immigration policies. Earlier this month, he criticised federal judges after a court struck down the administration's plan to impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B visas.

Speaking to reporters while leaving New York after attending the NBA Finals, Trump said, “These federal judges are really giving us a hard time. It's really crazy what's going on with the court system... They're hurting our country very badly.”

The court ruled that the proposed H-1B visa fee amounted to an unlawful tax because it did not have approval from the US Congress. The decision was viewed as a setback for the administration's efforts to restrict employment-based immigration and increase costs for employers hiring foreign workers.

The H-1B visa programme allows US employers to hire foreign professionals in specialised fields. The United States issues 65,000 regular H-1B visas annually and provides an additional 20,000 visas for applicants who hold advanced degrees from US institutions.

Separately, on April 23, Trump shared a video featuring conservative author and radio host Michael Savage, who criticised birthright citizenship. In the video, Savage claimed that immigrants take advantage of US laws by arriving in the country during the final stages of pregnancy.

Savage said, “a baby here becomes an instant citizen, and then they bring the entire family in from China or India or some other hellhole on the planet.”

Trump's sharing of the video added to the ongoing debate over immigration and citizenship policies in the United States.
